Residents and traders at Oliwo Odikan Market received a boost as the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, FCA, FCTI, paid an inspection visit to the market to assess ongoing drainage challenges and evaluate efforts aimed at preventing flooding.
During the visit, the Chairman inspected the canal where operatives of the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang (EFAG) were carrying out extensive desilting operations to improve the free flow of stormwater.
Hon. Olanrewaju praised the EFAG personnel for their commitment and dedication, describing their work as vital to safeguarding lives, protecting businesses, and reducing the impact of flooding in the community. He reaffirmed that both the Lagos State Government and Ikorodu West LCDA remain committed to supporting initiatives that enhance environmental safety and public welfare.
The Chairman also held a productive meeting with the Iyaloja of Oliwo Odikan Market and other market leaders, where they discussed practical measures to tackle recurring flooding and improve sanitation within the market environment. He encouraged traders to support government efforts by ensuring proper waste disposal and avoiding practices that obstruct drainage channels.
The visit underscores the administration's continued commitment to proactive environmental management and its resolve to create a safer, cleaner, and more resilient Ikorodu West for residents and businesses alike.
