In a decisive step toward strengthening grassroots security and enhancing rapid response operations, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, has presented a brand-new operational utility vehicle to the Nigeria Police Force, Owutu Division in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The official handover ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the council secretariat, underscored the administration’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property within the community.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman who also doubles as the Chief Security Officer of Ikorodu West LCDA highlighted the critical role of security in governance and community development. According to him, “uncommon performance cannot exist without a healthy security environment,” stressing that mobility remains a key factor in effective policing.
“I know that mobility is key to saving lives. In the same way, the police need mobility to protect our community from crime. This vehicle serves as a booster to our local security network. We are not just giving a bus; we are ensuring that when our people call, the response is swift and efficient,” he stated.
The initiative, he noted, aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Greater Lagos vision championed by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reinforcing a collaborative approach to governance and security at all levels.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the division, the Divisional Police Officer, Justine Uro, commended the council boss for his proactive leadership, describing the donation as a timely and life-saving intervention that will significantly improve operational efficiency.
Also present at the ceremony, senior officers from the Lagos State Police Command emphasized the importance of mobility in policing, noting that enhanced logistics directly translates to safer communities, secured businesses, and improved public confidence.
The event was attended by key political figures, council officials, and community stakeholders, including Council Manager Engr. Rotimi Okunowo; Council Leader Hon. Enitan Jessica Oba; SLG Hon. (Alhaja) Salau Ibukun Rukayat; Ward C Leader Hon. Bello Adelaja; Supervisor for Security Hon. Femi Dario; Chief of Staff Hon. Tayo Akinyemi, among other dignitaries.
